Rick's zoo farm

Rick is a friend of mine in near Ft. Pierce florida who cultures, collects rare zooanthids. His setup is very modest, simple, and effecient. He is not one to toot his own horn but after being over @ his house for hours checking out his system Im sure you guys will agree its worthy of posting.

He uses 55g drums cut in half as his tanks, and he has a 1000w hamilton 12k bulb fired by a SS ballast inside a diamond lumenarc reflector, as well as some LOA lights from HD.

All I can say is... Wow!

ya, things sure did take a twist with them winds and waves
that blew thru How you doin' bud? ready to get them
saltwater viens of yours flowin' again?

I'm still doing a little tweakin' here and there (but hell, i'm always
tweaking something) but here's a few pix i recently took.

the first one is my old reef tank which is now a lagoon/refugium/settling
tank with work counter attachment.
the second is my new (to me) 100g reef with the 75g, 55g & 30g
as frag/propagation tanks.
the third & forth are the two sides to my wall o' 10g's.
& the last is a sample of a few things in grow out.
i still have plans to install a couple of 8' shallow propagation tanks too.

Cool

thx guys. ya, SPS on on the menu but my favorite snack will always be zoos.
i'm going to try to stay with aquacultured as much as possible so anyone with
an excess of anything (even them blue shrooms/xenia ), i'll gladly trade for
anything else on my site.

Scott, the site is still a work in progress, but i think i can toss up
a link to this site too. plus i hope to be a sponsor soon too

Rick I have some blue Xenia to get rid of but they don't ship very well I hear. Also must add that although blue/silver when I bought them they are now more brown looking under my 20k's which I understand isn't supposed to happen with the more cool colored lamps but it did. They have started pulsing though which is a plus for me. If you want any I'll try to help ya out.

Fantastic colors.... is that zeovit or just food coloring? I am jealous. I especially like the long stringy green zoos in the last pic
