An idea.

I was in an army aid station today when I saw the "sleds" that they use to haul soldiers off the battlefield. The one in their station was made out of wood and when I asked the guy about the weight it could handle he told me somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 lbs. A lightbulb instantly lit up in my head. For my 75 I am building my own stand and was going to get one of these with the help of an army medic friend, reinforce it with 2 by 4's and put some motorcycle straps under it. Sit the tank on top and if I ever had to move it I could drain as much water as possible, cinch up the tie down straps and use the carrying handles to move the tank. The one I saw had 4 handles on the long sides and two on each end. Surely 6 people could move a 75g with the help of something like this. Any thoughts?

Question

You know in hindsight this might be a bad idea. What I mean by that is, to set up a large system the idea is that you don't move it right? Do I need to be established somewhere pretty good in order to commit myself to a tank this size? After all I'm military right now, Going back to college when I'm out. Could be moving around quite a bit in the next 3-5 years.

If you keep the tank relatively sparse, it might make things easier? You have the bare bottom now right? Would you be keeping that system when you upgrade? If so, I'm thinking that it would be a great deal easier to break down and move the system than if you had to deal with a live substrate. Just need LOTS of buckets

Well, yeah, that's pretty soon. I would agree... take this time to collect up all the things you want/need for the new system.
