What kind of lighting will the hood have? What size tank is it going on? I built my hood for my 125. I used 1X6X96 Pine to build a 5.5" High hood. Which is good for PC lighting, but not so good for Metal Halide.

The only generic things I can say is be sure to really really waterproof the inside on the hood. I used White Bathroom Latex Paint for the inside of my hood, then applied (3) coats of Polyurathene to insure a waterproof seal.

I hope Michelle don't read this, she'll get on me to get one built for our tank.

That is really the key; take your time, get the edges straight and you should be great!
