Ahhh crap!!

I want a closed loop but my tank has already been drilled with overflows, taken from the shop and brought home. I don't really like the idea of having 4-6 more holes drilled in the back glass. Not to mention having to haul it back to the lfs for the drilling. Do I have any other options as far as setting this up or should I just take the tank back and get it drilled?

Tunze stream on a multi controller would be your next best option. There are some DIY projects out there for loops without being drilled but they are not the best solution.

How many holes do I need.........6?

The good news is that I was in Vegas all weekend. Spent 20 plus hours at the craps table and am up $660 dollars so if I need the holes I'll make the hour and a half drive to get em.

Gosh no, I wouldn't dare put that many in the back of a 75gallon fearing it would weaken the glass too much. I would go with 3 tops, one for the pump input and 2 for the output.

No the closed loop has to be just that, circulation in a closed system. The input and output have to be within the same vessel or else you are just adding another return pump.

So basically what you are telling me is that I need to put two more 1" bulkheads in the back glass for the pump return and that's all.
Also I'm having problems finding pvc fittings for the 1" bulkhead at lowes or home depot. Where do you guys get your stuff for plumbing?
