.....Yes Please,I got to thinking about my cousins' child Since I can pressurize this thing I was thinking of using the tank as a calcium reactor? My mind just got stuck there I will not be wanting to run that pump 24/7 because the windings in the motor won't allow switching to 240v

While doing research on this sand filter I have uncovered this product that sounds like it is better than carbon for a reef tank?It can be used in this sand filter I have with no alterations (screwups).Or in place of where anyone uses carbon.Am I missing something or some reason why this can't be used.I am trying to get the MSD on it now I think if I just used this media in the sand filter for a couple of hours a day it would add to the cleanes of my water colume and if it has no noticeable effect then I will make the calcium reactor out of the tank and use the pump to push some spa jets in the wifes' garden tub. What do yall think about this media
........Product Name: Zeobest Sand Alternative (50 lb bag) Model Number: NA5102 Category: Filters Manufacturer: Blue Wave Description:

The Superior Alternative to SAND
- for better filtration & water quality!

Start using Zeobest instead of sand in your sand filter. Using 100% natural Zeobest minerals, Zeobest provides excellent water clarity, purity, and quality. Zeobest has nearly 9800 times more square footage than sand, enabling it to filter small particles down to 3 microns for exceptional water clarity - that's 10 times smaller than sand! This amazing filtering media also removes the ammonia produced from dead organic material in the water, reducing eye irritation and odor. Plus, it cuts down on chemical demand - saving you money on chemicals!Zeobest is easier to use then sand. You will only need one pound of Zeobest for every two pounds of sand your filter requires - 1/2 the effort! Since Zeobest has a greater capacity for particulates than sand; backwashing will be much less frequent. Comes in a 25 lb. bag.

How can you go wrong? Turn your sand filter into a super filter with Zeobest!

Hi Mickey

I personally think this would be a waste of time as far as a filter or a CA reac. for a few reasons

1. You cant see inside it unless you unplumb it, thus how will you know if your media is dissolved or not? or if its dissolving properly. I would totally ditch the idea of using it as a CA reac. It might have some purpose on a large scale for a larger tank but to tell you the truth I have one of these lying around that I havent even found a purpose yet for it but its much bigger than yours.

2. The pump is made for a pool and not for saltwater purposes so you may have problems with sealing on down the road as well as corrosion

3. Bulky and takes up space that you might want to conserve on

I will say this though....I have been reading a little on the ZeoVit additives and they appear to be giving great coloration to some corals but they also have had negative impact on other corals....not to mention their price of this stuff, wouldnt be so bad if it was a one time shot but this is another maintenance addon. Im still in the diligence phase w/ Zeo products but it has definately perked my interest.

Just my .02 cents

Wink

....That's the reason it is still by the wood pile I took the motor apart and cleaned the magnets and the rotor the put it on a shelf in my shop,There would be no problem with the pump sealing.I had thought about filling it with carbon.I can get carbon for $20 a 5 gallon bucket. That would just be a whole lot of work for nothing as I already have a 4" layer of carbon that the tank water filters thru.I will think of something useful.I always do
....About that Zeo in the other post....NOT TO BE USED WITH SALTWATER.To backwash the damn stuff you use salt water to make it give up the nasties it collected

I use a filter sock made of cheap washable felt that I purchase from a local fabric store. I know how to use a sewing machine so my filter socks kick ass.

Water is always crystal clear and the KEY is "no back pressure", no fuss, small, and you can even throw it in the trash and grab a new one.
