Blown out Ballast: How can I fix it?
I have an earlier jbj system and I've determined (by putting the lights in a new system) that the ballast must be blown. Any ideas how I can fix it.

I think your best bet would be to send it to JBJ and see if they can rebuild it. Or if your real handy with a multi meter but you probably could test out some of the components if you had an electrical schematic.

If you go to home depot and tell them what size lamps you have on that ballast they can provide a new ballast for you. If you are handy. To remove a ballast is not that hard. Just exchange the color wire for color wires. White with white, black with black, green with green. First I would open up the old ballast and make a small diagram of how it is wired and then go to home depot with the diagram. They will then tell you how to to set it up. I have done this alot. If I can do it I know you can do it
. Just make sure of one thing. Unplug the unit.....![]() |
