Painting tank

I have a 30g long tank with the fake dark woodgrain look on the top and bottom of the tank. I would like to paint this black to match the hood and stand that I have for the tank. What do you guys recommend for this? Is there a certain kind of paint to use. Should I sand the tank down?

Thank you,

Mitch

I would first use some sand paper to rough it up a little and then maybe go with a latex with a clear coat over. I really dont know to much about paint but you can always ask the people that work in the paint dept. at the store.

You could just buy some black trim @ HD and some small black finish nails and tack the trim on the outside of the upper part of the stand to cover the trim on the tank. Then do the same with the canopy? I have done this before and its fairly cheap and easy. If you do decide to paint the trim then just make sure you tape the glass real good so you dont get overspray on the glass itself.

try krylon fusion for plastic.(that is if it is plastic) works great for hiding returns and such as well.

Send a message via ICQ to saltjunkie
just go to a store and get some black contact paper.. or one of those sign places we all have all over town and get a length of black sticker...
id rather have a sticker peel as opposed to some nasty paint chemicals just hanging out ready to dive into my tank..
