Need some suggestions from you guys
If I were to build a stand that would hold a 40 gallon breeder as the display, a 20 gallon refugium above it and a 40 gallon breeder sump below it what would be some dimensions to begin looking at? I designed my 20 gallon system to operate this way but I made it so that the display is at eye level while standing up and I'm 5'11. The problem with this is that I can't put my fuge above it because the stand isn't wide enough to support the weight of a fuge and be sturdy if that makes sense. I feel that my small cpr is awesome but just isn't enough. I also built this old stand out of angle iron and 1" square tubing. I used zinc chromate to coat it before painting but the salt is still eating at it so I need to consider other alternatives or figure out a better way to keep the metal out of harm of the SW. I still have my other 75 gallon laying around but I can't afford the lighting right now and don't wanna set it up to tell you the truth cause I know I'll have to move it after the summer. With my corals growing how they are I'd like to have some extra room....albeit I won't have much more but if I don't add any more rock I should be fine for a while. I think my one 250w fixture throws out a wide enough beam for a 40 gallon. After having this system for a while I have more than a few ideas on how to improve things and wanna give em a try. One thought I had was this....As some of you know I run a BB and my rock is sitting on some pvc framework. This helps me vacuum deitritus off the bottom during water changes and lets me get the hose in places I wouldn't be able to reach if the rock was just sitting on the bottom. I'd like to go this route again in the 40 gallon but I wanna tie the return pump from the sump into the pvc frame so it will blow out under the rock work and keep the deitritus off the bottom better. For an overflow I'd like to go with the biggest bulkhead I can get so I can really crank up that mag 18 return. The problem I see with this is that the flow would come out of the closest support leg better than the rest of them and I want it to be evenly distributed over the bottom. Thoughts ideas and suggestions are needed here guys.
