Question about feeder refuguims....

So i've done a couple of searches, and i lurk like a demon.... but i haven't quite found an answer to this question, but before i ask i need to describe a bit about my setup.

Currently i run two 29 gallon tanks which are in the process of being broken down. I don't really raise anything except coraline algae... and peppermint shrimp.
I'm breaking down the tanks because i'm moving.
Since i'm restarting anyway, i thought it would be a good time to upgrade.
I want to make the two 29 gallon tanks into a Refufium and a sump/return respectively, and add a larger tank as the display tank.
I was thinking of possibly doing a custom tank, but i may go standard if i can find something that fits my interest. I'm interested in raising Sea Horses specifically, but if possible i may add a few suitable tank mates.
A shrimp gobe (maybe with shrimp... don't know how the sea horses and the pistol shrimp's will get along.), or a cow fish (i've always liked cow fishes, but i'm in no hurry to jump in with them.... especially with the poison and all.)
I'll probably add Branching Gorgonian, and Giant Kelp (if i can get it.... i live in utah.), or Sargassum.
i want to go larger (if you hadn't noticed...), and i realize that Sea horses prefer a taller tank.... i was thinking around 24 inches in height.. but if i can afford more when i buy the tank.

I want to add a feeder reguim above my main display tank.
I'm not talking using a pipe that comes from my sump, more like a small trough that is constantly is overflowing.
I has planned on acclimatizing some molly's to salt water and putting them there, or a small amount of hair algae for a active brine community or something to that effect.

Soo.... al that for this question:

I want the feeder refugium to be the default nutrition for the Sea horses, and Gorgonians,(yes,, i plan on giving supplemental feeding, especially if i have other types of livestock) so how big should this feeding refugium be?

(max number of sea horses = 7, probly wil be more like 5)

The short answer is, as large as it can be to maximize the population potentials inside the refugium.

hmm....

thank you.

while i got some bodies attention....

IS the Long Horn Cow fish safe in an aquarium with a clam?
I've heard different things about boxfish/cowfish compatibility.

I have a specific species in mind:
Lactoria Cornuta

it seems that this species doesn't tolerate feather dusters, but it fails to mention clams, scallops, or pistol shrimp.
