30g DIY Sump/Filter...Yes or no?....

Well after doing alot of research and alot of thinking...I came to the conclusion that i can make a wet/dry sump/filter as good, if not better then spending all my money buying one...I plan on a starting point of a base aquarium, I have a 150g tank(will be fish only w/ small amount of LR)...I can have a 30g tank for free..Just not sure if it will be big enough for the sump..it fits nicely under the tank..just trying to get some suggestions...I plan on making some chambers and baffles out of some 1/4 acrylic, would this be a possible setup that may work...I seen a company also sells just the wet dry bio box that can be added to a regular tank sump, would that be a idea to look at, maybe throw some LR in there or something...any ideas would be great, suggestions, comments..anything..thanks reefers

I think a 30 gallon sump on a 150 would be adequate, IMO. If you do a Reefland search on "sump" and "baffles" you might find a lot of different pics and feedback on a variety of designs. Good luck!

30 should be just fine for a 150 IMHO. Like Bubba said, do a quick search for tons of information on setups and ideas.

I think they say that the sump should be 20% of the main display. You are right on with the 30 gallon.

the above pic is what i did w/ a 30 gallon tank....i just glued in acrylic in a clock wise figure instead of up and down...complete w/ skimmer, auto-top off, 10 gallon refugium on the right side plumbed in(tank not in pic yet), prefilter w/ base rock as buffer, 5.5 gallon tank on top for a DSB.....its got all the " fixins " !
