Picture Frame Wall Tank!

Hey All!

Well, I am still not completely done with my large project (the 375) and have already started another. I have built a tank that will be mounted onto the wall and framed like a picture. The dimensions are 48Lx6Wx20H. That is approximately 22 gallons and 180ish pounds. The tank will be illuminated using 2 48" T-5 bulbs, one at 420nm and the other at 11K. Water movement will be facilitated using an external Ehiem pump and multiple returns using Jaco fittings. (a closed loop) Dissolved organics may be an issue so I am trying to design a skimmer to mount on the side of the tank within the frame. (tricky)Inhabitants will be small such as neon blue cleaner gobies, court jester goby, clown goby, sexy shrimp and the like. Of course there will be a sand bed, live rock and strategically placed macro algae for filtration. I may include a few zoos and or ricordia for some color. When I have a chance I will post some pictures of this tank and its progress...... To be continued.....

R/C, the tank is only going to be 6" wide? How are you possibly going to get your hands or rock in there?

My hands fit easily. The rock on the other hand (he he) will need to be selected carfully or taken into the garage and made smaller with a hammer and chisel....

Looking good!

I'll bet those pumps will provide significant turbulance. It might be hard to keep the water IN the tank though...

After I have the test model completely up and running I will be sure to take some pictures.... As of right now I am considering making a production run of these tanks pending the ammount of interest it produces. I have not decided weather or not I will offer it with the frame, lighting and mounting kit or not. I need to do this in order to pay for my MH ballasts...
