Step by step to: worlds worst fluidized reactor
Step 1: purchase 3 times as much acrylic as you need, snap the sheet in half so you can fit it on the bus to carry home in the wind.
Step 2: purchase some plastic piping and joints with metal inside so you have to glue the joints together so they don’t just fall apart. Step 3: decide how tall and wide you want you reactor messily score the lines on the acrylic and mess it all up. Step 4: use a sharpened screwdriver to cut really deep score lines in the acrylic so you can snap the bit you want off because you can afford the router. (Make sure you don’t only score on the line you need this way you get an extra added im a retard effect on your now scratched to hell acrylic) Step 5: you way to much silicone to put it all together and be sure to rub some in to you arm hair so it bloody hurts when you pull it out, and for an extra annoying time try itching your face with you arm you don’t know is covered in silicone so you get it in you beard and the fumes make you cry. Step 6: look at the monstrosity you have created and think it would have been easier and cheaper just to buy one.:slap::slap::slap: hope this is at least funny to someone if not usefull, allways use a router a sharpened screwdriver does not work!!!!! ![]()

![]() Thanks for sharing your story! You should have seen my first attempt at a DIY skimmer.... If mine had been made of acrylic instead of PVC then I am sure mine would have looked much the same! |

well i have since filled it with water only to find it leaking so a took it all apart and shortend it so there will be less pressure on the joints and instead of useing silacone, i used super glue to glue it all together and black silacone to make the joints water tight.
Its now filled with carbon and phosguard and is working wanderfully. Im glad i didnt buy one because this was so fun to make and works just as well as one you would buy. cheers james

Glad you had fun! You'll have to post a pic or two of it working for us to see.

At least you took a shot at it, a lot of people don't even try. It doesn't look that bad.
Have you ever tried the Weld-on products for cementing acrylic together. Weld-on works great, and with a little practice and a router, you can make acrylic reactors, skimmers, and sumps that look like you bought them at a store. |

I made a kalk reactor with an on-line group session. I felt lost at times but it all turned out well. Congrats on just jumping right in. |
