Converted Odyssea PS75 Protein Skimmer

A while back, I bought this protein skimmer, which was a mistake- it's a lousy skimmer. I've recently wanted a refugium, but didn't want to spend the money. So, I've modified this useless protein skimmer a little bit.
-Sawed off the top adapter for more access to the chamber
-Sawed off, at an angle, the return tube
Once this was done, I tossed in some live sand from one of my tanks, and a couple small pieces with rubble. I plugged it all in, opened the return valve all the way, and let her rip! It's a small refugium, but it's something!

Thats interesting...I never seen that done before.

I was reading on Robert Fenners website an article he wrote on
converting an aquaclear 110 hang on back power filter into a mini
refugium. The aquaclears are see through and have a pretty large
area where the freshwater bio media, sponge and carbon go. Perfect
for the live sand, live rock rubble. Im doing a bigger one on my main
tank. But I was thinking about doing an aquaclear refugium conversion
for my seahorse tank.

I would still recomend getting another protein skimmer. Aqua C skimmers
are excellent.
