I forgot to mention....I went ahead and got my business license, tax id #'s and and have submitted my paperwork for an LLC. I figure as busy as I have been I might as well do it right.

Re: New 180 gallon system build TOTW 9-6-07

I forgot to mention that many of these pictures are slightly off color. I had bad background light coming in through the entrance and it really made it hard to get decent pics today. I'll have to go in the evenings from now on to photograph things. Enjoy guys.

What would you call those tips Gene? They come and go throughout the day and all four had similar tentacle shapes today. The clowns are now in all four of them.

They are somewhat bulbous, very similar to what I see in my tank as well. Those are not super tight bubbles like I see on some of the rose E.quads that people post pictures of but I'm happy to see at least some resemblance. For years all I saw was long, at times huge tenticles swaying all around my tank.
They look really nice, though, color and everything. Let me know when you see a first reproduction going on.

Re: New 180 gallon system build TOTW 9-6-07

Awesome lookin' setup Chuck!!! Great to see they recognized your great work. I sent you a PM about the Photoshop question you posted earlier. I hope it helps ya a bit.

Oh ya, is that dark pinkish stuff on the back wall coralline algae? I'm wondering if I have that growing in my tank or not. I see it as bright pink on my LR, but on my front and side glass (and the back too, I'm sure), I have this realllllly light brown or dark pinkish stuff that is a PAIN to get off the glass with my magnetic scraper/cleaner thingy. I have to go over it like a ton of times to get it to come off the glass. I was thinking it was red slime algae or some type of brown algae, but I thought those would be easy to scrape off like the green algae. Now I'm wondering if it might be coralline. hmmm....

Re: New 180 gallon system build TOTW 9-6-07

Gene do you notice a certain size range of the anemones when they would most likely produce a clone?

SouthBayPhoto thanks for the thumbs up and pm it helped. It is corraline algae on the back wall in my pictures. I've seen it range from bright pink to purple to even some green and yellowish forms before so it could very well be what you have. The magnet cleaners don't work too well on it and usually end up producing scratches on the glass. For other algaes it works pretty well but I use a razorblade for the harder stuff.

That is looking FANTASTIC!!!

Great work Chuck!

I can send you an adobe action file that will resize your images if you are using Photoshop CS or higher.

I don't think I'll need it unless it's easier than setting an action up. SouthBayPhoto showed me how to do that and it makes things much quicker. Thank you though Mike.

Re: New 180 gallon system build TOTW 9-6-07

Cool...maybe I do have coralline growing. I've been jealous hearing everyone else having a ton of it and I didn't think I had any. LOL Since I scraped it all off this weekend, I can't take any photos and start a thread on it...maybe by next weekend I can do that to see.

A razor blade eh? No harm, no foul if you put that in the tank to scrape the glass? Do you "treat" it with anything before you put it in there or just make sure it's a new one?

Again, great job on the tank. Love it.

Re: New 180 gallon system build TOTW 9-6-07

Thank you everyone!

Mat - It doesn't harm anything but I do clean them before use to ensure any manufacturing residue isn't introduced into the system. If you rinse them with FW and dry afterwards they will last a little while but if you don't it will be rusty the next day. You will want to put the blade edge at an acute angle with the glass and apply even pressure while you scrape or you can scratch glass with them.

Rocky I owe a lot to you. When I came down there to help you rebuild I got a super dose of reefkeeping. I was hooked long before coming there but I don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't. Seems insignificant to most and did to me at the time but that's something I'll always be glad I did.

Chuck, there are no particular size or signs that I noticed in term of asexual reproduction. I haven;t been watching lately, but when I did I saw that one of the clones would partially close and start moving somewhere behind the rest of them. Sure enough it would be a new pale looking clone, or two, the next day.
I have some pictures of it going on on my PC, I just have to look for it so I can email them to you. Incidentally, I have now pretty large clone that is a very recent product of division, and it puzzles me that it is such large size clone. Most of the time they are fairly small, depending on the animal that had divided.
Some could be three inches and some could be as small as a silver dollar. That tells me that the animal divided was one of the smaller ones.

So, in turn, I can;t tell you what to look for exactly...
