Polyolefin - reef safe or not?
I have a NDS drain grate that I would like to use as a base for a skimmer I am building, but it is made of polyolefin and I am not sure if it is reef safe or not. Anyone know?

Re: Polyolefin - reef safe or not?
What kind of polyolefin is it? polyethylene is a polyolefin as is polypropylene. Polyolefin is a polymer produced from a simple olefin and some olefins are used to make motor oils.

I am not real sure, but it doesn't matter now. I took it back to Lowes at lunch and found a rubber end cap at a plumbing supply store that I will use. Cheaper too!!
