Aqua-scaping (stacking your rocks)
There has been some creative ways out there, and I think its about due time we start logging some of these great ideas into a thread on how we can create more unique, porous, natural and appealing live rock designs and aquascape. Using eggcrate to lift rocks up from being buried in sand, drilled pieces of PVC pipe, base rock first, Tonga branch first and even some of the latest drilling rocks and connecting them together w/plastic dowel rods. The dowel rods has been an idea for me for a while.

Re: Aqua-scaping (stacking your rocks)
My last scaping, I used Tye-wraps to attach smaller LR chunks together to make it open up more rather than packing it tightly together. Getting flow around the rocks constantly from as many directions is key to good flow around the rack scape design or at least part of good design, you also need aesthetics & places to mount corals, some is personal & some is necessary for the corals.

Re: Aqua-scaping (stacking your rocks)
Here is the rack I built for my upcoming 75gal project. I still need to cap each support leg though. There is an inlet on each end so that I can connect a small powerhead and push water through it. I plan to drill small holes that point to the interior of the rack, thus giving a little extra flow under all the aquascaping. This also allows a lot of cave area for fish to swim and hide as needed. This basically allows two islands, one on each end of tank, and then a bridge between them.

That is awesome ratpack. I used a similar rack for my tank (scaled down though
).
