Idea for a sump/fuge - looking for opinions.

I was thinking about a setup that looks something like what is shown below. I am not ready for a sump or new tank yet but I want to get my ideas all figured out for the day I do decide to get a large tank. Let me know what you think along with your opinions.

I like it! I dont even really think there would be a need for the 3way valve....

3-way valve is there to control the amount of flow that goes back to the main tank. Typically people limit the flow via a valve because you can't size the pump perfectly. Well instead of putting extra pressure in the supply line and slightly dead-heading the pump this setup allows you to get the right amoutn of flow to the main tank and the left-over flow can go to the fuge...


I figured the duge does not need or want a high flow liek the sump does. So in this setup you limit the flow in the fuge section but you do get flow...

After having some some issues with my under tank (10 gallon) sump fuge I decided to make a larger sump and keep it next to the main tank. To make a long story short the 10 leaked before so I sealed it. That lasted about 2 years before it leaked again. Since I can't get the tank out from under the stand without removing the display tank there it stays...

This sump i made using a 20 gallon long.....
