    Re: Reef Safe Metal ???

Aluminum is definitely a no-no. High grade stainless steel is OK. Why do you ask?

P.S. -- Just for the historical record in this thread: No copper, brass or any other alloy containing copper. I figured I had better add that in case someone who was very brand new should read this thread later on.

    Re: Reef Safe Metal ???

You should seek "professional" advice. All I know is that a manufacturer of very expensive glass aquariums with stainless steel frames uses "321 Stainless." That's supposed to be an expensive grade of stainless steel that is more resistant to aqueous corrosion.

I do know that you do not want to have aluminum in contact with saltwater. That's definitely not recommended. The coils in aquarium chillers are made of titanium, so I'm sure titanium is OK to use.

You really need to ask someone who knows about this stuff. I really don't, other than the basic stuff on what to avoid.
