    Larger Aquarium Move

I have my saltwater set up in a ten gallon tank. Just a nice piece of rock, a couple pieces of frag rock, some hermits, and some other living creatures that have hitched a ride on the rock.
I am wanting to have a larger tank (20 or 30 gallon) and I am just wondering if anyone can help me out with a safe and clean way of moving the contents of the 10 gallon into the larger tank.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

How long has the 10 gallon been running? If less then 6 months, I would just move it all over, including the sand and all the water, then just add premixed saltwater to the larger tank to fill it.

Yes, only a few months. Also, my rock has quite a bit of purple coraline algae qrowing on it. If I wanted to to spread onto other new live rocks I purchase, where should I place the rock? Under the new ones? above? Does it matter?

Doesn't really matter, coralline will grow EVERYWHERE when you keep your Ca and Alk levels in the proper range. I try to keep my Ca from 380-400 and my alk around 8-10dKh. You can certainly run them higher, but I get excellent growth at this point, so I don't feel the need to go higher.

What are you planning on using to maintain Ca and Alk? One is no good without the other.... So make sure you pick a balanced method. There are several 2 part additives, or you could use Kalkwasser as your evaporation make up water. Make sure to read up on the options here, and don't buy into the several snake oils.

Good points Mike. Also, magnesium is another additive that directly (coral)ates with Ca and Alk. The three balance each other out.... (coral)ates I made a funny......

Yup, Mg too! For some reason my Mg hovers around 1000, I can't seem to raise it no matter what I do, but I don't see any negatives at that point either.

So how do I get rid of or kill the anemones before I move the rock into the newer aquarium?
