    Refugium Idea

I want to add a refugium to my sump but have a very high flow through the sump. Rather than making another chamber I was thinking of adding a refugium over the sump, small powerhead delivering water, with an overflow near the top so it will drain back into the sump. I have the room and is this a dumb idea, or will it even work?

It is basically the same thing I am doing, yeah, it'll work. How big of a fuge are you going to have. Check my gallery for pics of mine if you need to.

I was thinking about 10 gallons, I'll check out those photos. Hopefully, I can find a 10g non-tempered somewhere local.

If you are thinking that small, maybe even a food grade rubbermaid tub would work.

I may look into that, still a week or two off from tackling this feat. I've got to break down my tank to re-plumb it anyway. Would rather not split the drain and place another baffle in the sump; but maybe I will, how big of a fuge are you adding?

I added a 75 gallon fuge in June. It is fed by a Mag 12 from my sump.

I'll check out those photos, my DT is only about 120G, so I don't think I need anything quite that large; but that's gotta be a nice one. Can't wait to see the photos.
