PH question for Scubadude
Hi Scubadude,
A while back I asked you about how you made a spraybar by putting some holes in some PVC and sticking the PVC pipe onto a MaxiJet PH (900 I believe). I was wondering: - how long the piece of piping is, - how many holes it - Did you cap off the other end of the piping - and has there been any problems with backpressure on the PH itself? Thanks dude, CaptK |

My 20 gal. tank has a MJ 1200 (I used to have the 900 on it...I Upped it to the 1200) 20" spraybar w/ 7 holes these holes are dispersing the waterflow thoughout the tank fairly easy. YOU must cap the end! otherwise you will get a virtually useless flow shooting to the end of my tank! Remember you control where and how much flow depending on where you aim your drillhole location and how big a hole you drill....I usually go as little as 5/64" and as big as 1/8" This PH w/spraybar keeps my top water level stirred fairly well too. As far as back pressure....as long as you clean the intake grate every month or so its ok. I also soak/run my PH's 1x a month or so in vinegar for a couple of hours and then make sure they soak/rinse/run just as long in fresh water. I have had this PH for over 4 mos now and no probs. I have got some recent pics of the tank somewhere and there is almost 50% of the spraybar is covered w/coralline algae! ![]() BTW no big deal....but this thread should proly be in DIY forum...Im in there alot too.... ![]()
