I gots a new toy!

Now I can build that aquarium. I was really concerned with using a jigsaw to cut 3/4" oak plywood! A jigsaw just doesn't cut it (no pun intended).

Now on to more DIY projects....

don't forget to get a straight edge and some clamps so you can cut straight!!!

Ditto the above. Do you oak ply a favor and get a good panel blade may cost you half of what you paid for that saw but worth it, might even cut acrylic if it is one with very little to no kerf. And as with most diy go slow, take your time, let the saw do the work. If you go too fast you'll burn the cut and bind the blade and get an uneven cut. Most of the non-contractor grade circ saws out there will have some minor play. Bill.

Actually my local Home Depot has 7 1/4" plywood/plastic blades with zero blade offset. It is only $5.98 and made by DeWalt. I was shocked to learn this. Needless to say, I will be buying that.

I agree with the straight edge. I would be a fool not to use one.

Damn..mark where those in the big tool corral??iam going tommorow lookgin for that..I was gonna buy an acrylic blade at a plastics store they want over $100 for it..

Yup. In the tool corral. It is by DeWalt and has "Plywood / Plastic" printed on the front. I am sure that the price will vary by location, but it will cost less than $100. Look at the blade from the edge and you will see that there is no offset. It is perfectly smooth.

i dont see the hd blade for 6 bucks cutting plastic very well.since it has no set.unless theres a carbide tooth on there,the plate is gonna be the same thikcness as the teeth.so when your cutting anyting,wood plastic,the plate is gonna be in contact with the 2 cut edges the whole time.maybe causing burning on the wood and melting on acrylic.
so as a cabinet maker for 10 years. i would buy the 1 hundred doller blade.its gonna cut better,but that is a lot of money i know for some thing that may not be used very often.
just a few cents from me

dan ,ime any plywood blade works fine on acrylic ,as long as you dont need perfect smooth edges.and i never got back to you about those corals .what do you have that you need to get rid of?

if you get rough edges fom a lesser blade it would be a simple matter of routing the edges and corners. that would give it a polished look wouldn't it? just wondering

We shouldn't count it and leave well enough alone.
