Help with my tank. Urgent!!

I made my own tank stand and I think the tank is twisting due to a combination of an uneven floor and the stand settling.

I have an acrylic 55 gallon tank and I see that the cross bar at the top is seperating from plastic frame. While it has not completely seperated, the bar is pulling away from the front frame a little bit each day. Is this simply for supporting a canopy or does this hold the tank together?

What would happen if this completely seperates? Will my front glass fall apart? Will my tank shatter? Is this an emergency? What can I do to stop this or do I need to replace the tank, and probably the stand since this may be the problem? Help, please!!

This is a big problem that needs immediate attention. You should get a large clamp to place from the back to front at the point it is separating from the cross brace. Then you need to determine if the tank/stand is unlevel. If so, this must be corrected. If it is all level sounds like just the tank is failing and will need to be fixed by a professional or replaced.

Your floor must be seriously unlevel, like an inch difference corner to corner. You say separating from the frame, Is the actual tank squeezing together or bowing outward?

as soon as posable get a replacement tank that support will sound like a gun going off when it snaps from pressure, make sure when u set everything back up u have the level ZERO bubble any thing else and your asking for trouble. if you live in a home with a crawl space or have the tank upstares the corner of two wall is the strongest place to resetup the tank. good luck
