    Rubbermaid sump

has anyone eve made a sump out of rubermaid containers? the dimensions of the opening of my stand wont alow for anything else (flexability to shove them in the stand). Should have done it the begining I know and there is no room outside the tank. So My plan is to double them up for strengh. then get in there and build two chambers off the eshops plan using acrylic ill cut myself and get the sponge for the divider. A ll I want to acomplish is to clean up my water by having a sock and having a place for a carbon reator. Maybe put some cheato and extra rock in there as well like my other tank. huge difference in algea problems between tanks. I have seen people use buckets and all sorts of weird stuff but i question rubbemaid though i use it to mix my water and have from day one. its not breaking down yet. Coments? ideas. just dont tell me im on crack or do it nicely please.

    Try this and similar searches:

site:reefland.com rubbermaid sump - Google Search

Or, what about buying a $10 plastic garbage can or two?

Empty most of the water from your tank.
Move the tank forward, insert sump.
Move tank back, pump water back in.

With a friend I bet you can do it in under 20 minutes.

And the garbage cans will come in handy in the future (assuming you only use them for your tank to keep them sanitary).

Another option... brace tank, cut support, insert tank, repair support. You can find more info here:

    Re: Rubbermaid sump

Wow that super sump is awsome. Someday... I'll just have to stick with my rubermaid tote plan. My back wont allow for much now that i know what wrong with it. Thanks for the pics. Hopefully i can find some one to do my hard plumbing lol. My stand isbt anything like your pics but i'll make due and thanks. I was just wondering about rubermaid breaking down or leaching baddies. So i guess i really have no worries there. Thanks from montana!
