    DIY LED Help

    Hi all,
In regards with the LED setup, I am really interested in doing one for my reef. But the issue is i am a
complete noob in this. I really would appreciate some advise from you experts.
Please find below the details of my tank.
    Length: 24 inches
    Breadth: 15.5 inches
    Height: 23 inches
It is a 30 gallon tank.
I am looking forward to keep sps in my tank. I do have a zoa frag which is doing well as i have kept it
    near the light.
    Currently i am using T5 for my setup 4 x 8 watts (2 blue and 2 white) .
A few question which came in my mind.
    1. How many LED do i require for my setup.
    2. What driver i need to use for them
    3. Do i need a dimmer.
    4. How many degree optics i need to use.
    5. What is the thickness of heatsink i need to use.

The above are just a few things that cam in my mind.
Would really appreciate if someone helps me with the data. Also i live in UAE where many of the equipments are not available so will need to use something’s easily available or alternatives

    Thanks in advance

    Check out RapidLED.com

These guys cater to diyers and can supply all the parts you need to build your own unit. You can call/email them with the same questions, and they'll point you in the right direction.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

    1. How many LED do i require for my setup. -------20 (10 white 10 blue)
    2. What driver i need to use for them ---------2 meanwell eln 60-48d drivers make sure you turn down the voltage because they are preset to run 12 leds so just turn the screw down to run 10 lights and adjust the amp output.
    3. Do i need a dimmer. - of course. non dimmable leds only cause future problems. the drivers i just listed are dimmable
    4. How many degree optics i need to use. - 65 degree white and 75 degree for blue which will be avalible from rapid led in the comming weeks
    5. What is the thickness of heatsink i need to use. - doesn't really matter. this about of lights on any heatsink will be sufficeint
pm me if you have addition question. I'm like an LED expert if i had to say ive built so many fixtures for my lfs and other people around me so if you have any questions on how to build it or anything pm me and ill be glad to help you out.
