DIY LIVE ROCK...???

Hi everyone, Ive been considering trying to make my own live rock and ive been watching videos on youtube
and reading on other forums and ive seen some that looks great and others not so much...
My problem is i cant find much on how safe it would be to put in my show tank
and i really dont want to put my tank at risk to try and save a few bucks so i need input..
Ive read that you use rock salt, portlant cement, and crushed coral or other shells
and ive found how to cure it and get the ph stable and salinity at 0 and also
id be cycling the rock before adding it into my tank with a peice or live rock from
my show tank. Any thought or input is greatly appreciated

I've read that sometimes after curing in freshwater till ph stabilizes, if you them switch to SW, it will spike ph briefly one last time, so might want to make that a part of your curing process.

I know this is an old thread but im new here so I thought Id give it a shot. I have made a bunch of diy rock and am presently curing it. I have changed the water daily for about 3 weeks and my ph is still 11.6. Just wondering how long it generally takes to get down to tap water ph before i do a salt water cure. I will also cure it in a spare tank with real liverock before bringing it into my dt.
