    Reservoir Creativity

So the bachelor side of me has no problem putting a 23 gallon garbage can next to my tank for a reservoir. The married part of me, well, let's just say it ain't happening. Short of making my own oak frame, anyone have a good idea for a nice looking, kid tested and wife approved container for my ato?

Well you could get large decorative planters that will hold water (a drain hole may need sealed) plumb it with a nice lid and let her place a small planted container on top.. Whatever you come up with I will be watching the solution. LOL You can take the heat and I will go from there with my wife.

    Re: Reservoir Creativity

All set. Here is how I did it. Total cost about $50.

My wife went out and picked out the largest, most appealing garbage can holder she could find. We settled for this wicker piece which held a 14 gallon trash can:

The next thing to do was to plumb the piping through the unit. Since the thing has nice handles on the side, I just tore through the netting a bit and inserted the flex tube. I used an elbow to make a right turn behind the stand into my sump. It was real easy to get through the garbage can using a 3/4 boring bit.

I started a big kick on safety this week. Picks are on my other thread. Here is how I made this kid proof. Cost was under $7 at Lowes:

Now in spite of this awesome idea , I am still prone to the occasional error. I finished up and went down to do some work. Didn't notice the output was below the water line of the sump. Lucky I caught it in time. Eh, my salinity was high anyway

    Steal this album...er, design.

    Enjoy!
