Yes, it turns to the side to produce the CC effect.

I went with acrylic to solve the only 2 problems I could find with the design.
1) the water level inside the skimmer and
2) the amount of bubbles the airstones are producing.

The acrylic was a PITA to deal with compared to PVC but hopefully wont leak I used Marine goop, but could have used #16 IPS I think. I also have a pvc version that I can fall back on if I need to.

The DIY instructions that are provided on RC need some work. There are 2 diffrent types of 6" pvc, drain and sch 40. The fittings for one wont work on the other, diffrent od's. Something someone should know if attempting this.

I didnt think you had gotten my emails, I must have a old addy.

Might give you a call later, I got plenty of time on my hand being un-employeed

Looks great Paul! What are you going to run it with and what size air pump?

Luft air pump at about 40w and a small ph to feed it. I only need about 150gph going to the skimmer itself according to P.R. Escobal's charts.

I should have it operational next week working on the left over LR/LS I had from the large reef tank.

Hi Guys:

Are you talking about the instructions by snailman?

Rocky:

That stank looks awfully familiar.... One suggestion I would have, however, is to use a 2x4 to hold up the frame; the sheer forces on the screws are very high that way. Each of your tanks is going to weigh more than 450lbs.

Here are my original pics:

Some detailed pictures of the stand:

MGK!! Watsup DUDE! Thanx for bringing that up....I was planning on reinforcing it (I went through this same thing with building my 220g stand) I just havent quite figured out exactly how, I have some ideas and I will take some pics and let you critique me. Im doing multiple things at once right now so when I run into a snag with one project I leave it and work on another project while I saturate my thoughts before I go back to the other project :P Berries and Cream on your stand bud! That is a sweet setup, get your heineken down here and help me build one of those...hehe j/k!

mgk65, yes snailmans DIY.

Scuba, go get some 5/16" or larger galv lag screws x about 3" or greater in length and put them in at all the critical points. Or scab a 2x4 under each section and glue and screw it like mgk65 did. Either way will be plenty strong.

Smile Update

Things are going fairly well, even though it has been getting a tad bit cold in the GH. The CC skimmers that I built to replace the Beckett skimmers are in place and are as effecient as I thought they would be. Im using one air pump to drive both of the skimmers if you look close you can see the mucky muck overflowing...there is NO collection cup because the foam is so dry it is like dust before it falls to the ground I LOVE THESE SKIMMERS! I also just tapped right into the AM3K pumps to supply my feed for the skimmers, and that worked great too!

Ok the COLD temperature issue that im having to deal with (never thought I would have this problem, not really serious though) It has gotten down to 45-46 in the middle of the nites lately so its getting cold believe it or not down here in S. Florida...everytime I wake up in the morning (usually 6am) i check the temps in the GH first thing and it hasnt dipped down past 76 UNTIL yesterday morning, here is a pic of the new thermometers I ordered for each tank which shows the outside air temp (air temp in the GH actually) on the left, and the tank water temp on the right, note that this pic was taken tonite at about 5:30pm so it has been warmed up most of the day

Notice....RadioShack! They where on sale for $9.99 I bought their last one and ordered 5 more

Here is the propane heater that I bought at HD last nite which I will be hooking it up tonite....this bad boy cost me 80 bux! but I didnt want electric so we will see how this works.

and of course some pics of the tanks for u guys.

Scuba,
don't know how you are going to control the heater, but remember all the products of combustion that it will leave behind. CO, CO2, etc. And it'll use the O2. Looks like a small heater for your good sized greenhouse, so should be no problem.
Just $0.02

Nope, no collection cups, but the foam is so dry It never hits the ground....I just scrape the dry foam off the side of the skimmer and you can see the shade cloth actually holds it in place for me The picture as you can tell from the condensation is from early morning and that is as moist as the foam gets, and that is supposed to be CLEAR acrylic tubing the foam is coming out of...you see the muck on the side of the tubing

scubadude I have a question about how your chiller is run during the winter.(I guess the same as you run it in the summer)
do you find it helps heat the water any when its real cold?I want to install one but cant figure what to do with it in the winter months.
up here in NC it stays pretty cold for awhile.
