scuba ,just wondering, the plastic you used to make the greenhouse isnt clear...is there a reason?it must block out at least a little light, not that i think it will matter..or does it help with temps? or??.hhmmm how much light do you actually expect?more than you could get from halides you think?got a lux meter yet?it will be interesting to see what kind of coloration you get in youre sps.
what about hurricanes?soo much money in a plastic tent ...id be so friggin paranoid you need a big fence and a couple more chows ![]() |

Joanne! Hey GIRL! Yes it has been a long time, glad to see you havent fallen off the face of the earth :P Thanx for the compliments
![]() Well I plumbed a water feed into the GH today and hooked up a Utility sink in there (home depot 59bux) here is a thermometer I stuck into the water and as you can see that the outside temp is 82.3 and water temp is 79.4 there was a time during mid noon where it read 103 outside tem and the water temp was only 80 ![]() and here is the breaker box I will be mounting in the GH which is fed off of a 100amp breaker off the main breaker box. Tommorow I will be wiring the electrical. |

The temp monitor is a standard one you can get at most online vendors. It is the Lifeguard bigtemp for $30 at premium aquatics. |

You got me thinking though on what permanent type of temp sensors I want for the greenhouse I have already bought 2 submersible pool temp gauges. and will probably get something that measures humidity as well as temps in the GH. |

Hey Scuba I have the same RO/DI unit it works great, I think you will be happy with it! The project looks great, you are really coming along. I have one suggestion have you thought about using maybe a crushed limestone or something similar for your floor in your greenhouse? The limestone would compact well and also drain well if you dump a lot of water on it. (Which you probably will!) I did not really see on the previous threads where you addressed what you were going to do for the entire floor. (ie. concrete slab, pea gravel etc.)
Just my 2 cents, have a good one..

![]() Thanks for the tip....I probably will use crushed limestone if it is fairly cheap enough for me to get. First though after I get all my tanks leveled and in there im gonna dump some dirt in there and get the rest of the ground fairly level then Im gonna kill all the grass and weeds, then lay down weed mat so nothing can grow in there (cept corals of course :P ) then I will probably put down the limestone. |

Some time back you talked about possibly moving. Are you going to keep this place and move to another house? Do you think this GH will reduce the value of your house? |

Looking good.
I though I was dreading having to tear down my 125 when I move but green house move sounds like a little more work than just my tank. I have a ro/di form Brian also. Brian is a great guy and helped me out when I having some problems with system wich turns out that my is just so bad that I have to replace my membrane at least once a year. |

Coming along nicely
I got the rest of the top and sidewalls on the GH, I also hooked up my RO unit and have tested and am happy to report that I have only 1 ppm on my TDS meter I will be working on my auto top off system soon. I bought 2 more AM3000 pumps just got them yesterday....I figured I should always have one as a backup! Im waiting on a few more bulkheads and the strainers to plumb the 2nd tank. I also built a couple of tables for the GH.

Rocky, it is looking good! Once you get all your tanks set up and full of water where are you planning on getting all your starter (mother) coral colonies, and clams? Just curious...
