My new 45 cube stand etc...

Haven't posted here in ages. But here is a brief overview of my new stand tank setup. I will have a 45 cube as my main tank. A 29 tall for a refugium and a second 45 cube as my sump. Return pump is an Ampmaster 3000 plumbed through 1.5" PVC an MAG9.5 closed loop. Will be running a DIY 24" tall 6" dia reactor, DIY Kalk stirrer and a bullet 3. Lighting will be a 400W 10KK, 2x 24" 10KK VHO's, 2x24" phillips 03's for the main tank. Refugium will have 2x28w 6400K PC's and two 24" 10KK VHO's over the sump. Once it is set up I will mount my RO/DI inside the stand to the left of the sump. A small "house" is being made for the skimmer and Rx to be stored in. As well as anything else I can hide in there.

And now the pics.

Reactor

Kalk stirrer

plumbing into tank and refugium

stand with facade uncut.

stand painted.

3000GPH through the sump. Give or take.

Thumbs up Awesome WORK!!

Dude I already posted on RC how much I like it! but I will say again!! Way TO GO!!! The CA Reac, kalk stirrer, skimmer, and stand.....hell everything is very classy!! You should be proud of yourself. That system should put out some awesome SPS! Everything seems very well thought out, and great design!!! Did you get your baffle problem fixed? I remember you had to add another baffle to the sump cuz you damn near had a rip current goin on in there Definately keep us posted....and I am so glad you posted it here cuz its hard for me to find stuff at RC sometimes.

Scuba,

Hey there.

Thanks for the compliments.

I fixed the baffle problem. Had to move them about 3.5" apart so slow the flow down. lol

I'll be painting the lid and doors today and assembling the whole thing on wednesday or thursday. I can't wait. I also have to finish the house for the skimmer and reactor. lol

You can see all the SPS I'll be tossing into the tank here. 33 gallon pics

Very nice setup. Well put together.
That is amazing putting a AM3 on a 45 guess no need for power heads on this one.

Looks spicy!!

I'm loving this. Lots of variety in a smaller tank. That Green Open Brain looks mighty big. How long have you had it?

Thanks Elmo.

Have I met you at any of the PSAS meetings?

The brain is about 3 yrs old. I think. Can't remember.

I am going to "weed" out the tank a bit. Leave most of the larger colonies. I want teh sand bed to be for my clams and two LPS.

Darren, I believe I've never been to one, I'm here in Seattle

I'm also at this time getting a tank up, a 75 gal. Got my sand and everything just waiting for the patched crack to dry and cure. I hate when things slow me down

I'll still be running several MaxiJet 1200, probably two of them in addition to my Iwaki WD20RXLT. I figure the 20 wont give enough flow to the tank at max 540 GPH. HOpefully, coralline will just cover up the power heads, anyway.

Im very interested in how this system progress's I mean its an extreme setup IMO but could very well produce some interesting views....Please keep us updated....how are the corals adapting to the new flow rates and everything else?

Without the actual lid here is it all unfinished. Painted ones will be up in the next day or two when I get time. I am still putitng the trim on the lid and then sealing that.

I am hoping to have the final touches done on sunday with the lid and lights mounted. Can't wait. Not much longer.

Elmo,

Here is the link for PSAS . Check it out. tell Paul or Chuck that I sent ya. I try to make the meetings every second month. They know who I am.. lol

Northman,

Thanks. Hmm the kalk stirrer. not much to say really. 3" dia acrylic, a maxi jet 400 for recirculation and that is it really. I think I have schematics somewhere for it. I'll go look.

Scuba,

The corals seem to be doing great. Polyps are out on everything. The flow is awesome that is for sure. I"ll get more shots as I finish the lid and door.

Have a good one.
