Modifying Light HOOD
Is there any way to modify my 48" single floressent bulb hood to be fitted with another single floressent bulb? I wanted to keep lighting cost down for now and just run 2 48" bulbs one 10k and on atinic/ Any ideas?

Buy a $10 shop light at Walmart and Home Depot and stick your two lights in them. That should work well for what you have now.
The shop lights are white and doesn't look bad if you have it hanging or maybe even cover it up with a homemade hood. |

I doubt if you're going to get by with 2 40W tubes if you want any corals. You'll have to step up a little more. 1 thing you could do rather than toss money at the 40W variety is to add a 96W pc if there's room in your hood or even replace the existing tube and ballast and go with a 2 or 3 light retro. www.ahsupply.com is a good source for something affordable and lots of options. The shop light will cost about 10 bucks then add 20 or 30 each for bulbs, in my opinion you'll spend 50 - 75 dollars and have a 2 dollar garage sale item in 6 months when you decide to upgrade to some "real" lights.
Good Luck, Tim ![]() |
