I am looking to put an auto top off system on my tank and was wondering what you use? I can't decide on the float valve or one that works on vacum. Any suggestions?

I have a 35 gal drum outside the window of my tank. I run a line from the RO\DI unit in the garage to the 35 gal drum. I have a Sipedone float switch in my sump that controls a powerhead in the drum. When the level drops 1/8" in the sump the float switch kicks on the pump and tops off. Not much to the float switch and it works great. It cost more than a float valve but works a whole lot better.

I was leaning towards the float switch. The level in the sump doesn't have to drop as far before the pump kicks in. I just wanted to make sure I did this right the first time.

IMO, a float switch is the best way to go for top off
