even the IC sanjay tested he had probs. He tested Iwaski on 250w the par was99.8 and magnetic was 124.3. If you read post on IC and between the post and ppl I know I can easly say at 80% has probs. I belive even Perry had to have his fixed. Not sure but The magnetic performed the best in 250w 6.5k. IC did perform better on 175w. This balast seems to have less probs. Blueline was the best all around for 400w. But MV performed better with 6.5k. The only this I don't like about blueline is they can't be repaired but they are cheap?? or not to privcey I would consider those for 400w if I were to run 10k but probally would still get pfo MH.

I didn't know Sanjay had tested Ice Cap ballasts? Do you have a link?

    Thanks,

P.S. - I just checked his site and there's nothing there. Only the spectral analysis testing he did for AF on the 250w, 400w, and 400w used. He used regular transformer ballasts for all of those except for the HQI.

Go buy Marine reef & fish usa 2001 annual. he has tested many ballast bulbs and has alot of info plus other good articles. This has been out for 3 yrs 1999 and is worth buying every year.

I just have a problem when I read several post about ppl sending them back for repair. I know everbody says they have the best customer service........They better have!!

When I get the tank ordered and ready to setup, Kurt (KASESQ) said he would come over and help me with the plumbing. You know he's been doing this stuff 40 years or was it 20 years

The red ones have the stainless steel shafts that corrode in reef tank situations. You have to get a blue one with the titanium shaft. The warranty is void on a red one if you use it for saltwater, if it was manufactured after they started producing the blue ones. The red ones can only be used for freshwater.

P.S. - Here is a pic of the blue one with titanium shaft:

    Hey All:

I just thought I would add in that the Dolphin ST1200 is GREAT! After taking the advice of Ninong I got one hooked it up and turned it on I couldn't even tell it was running VERY quiet! I will recommend it to anyone..... JMO
