I am getting a new Tenecor tank w/built in overflow. The Lfs guy told me to use sponges, bio bale, etc and sort of "pack" it full. Any thoughts???? Anyone have a Tenecor tank w/built in overflow? How do you like it? TIA Dennis

If youre using live rock I would leave it empty. Maby use a sponge to filter out big particles, but rinse it out weekly.....Mike![]()
Try using a durso standpipe!!!

Using any kind of filtration in there is sort of a detritus trap and needs to be constantly cleaned to prevent the buildup. If you're up to cleaning up regularly then by all means.
Otherwise it's amazing what life settles in there though - sponges, copepods, different types of algae - sort of a mini refugium.
I also second Schottman's recommendation on the Durso Standpipe - completely silent.

Put your heater in the overflow. Reduces some of the clutter in the sump.
You can use your overflow to run carbon when you need it as well.

Tcook,
I like your idea! I think I am going to do that.
Also it would be easier to adjust the temp.
