Hi Everyone,
Looking for a good pump that I can set up to a couple of 3/4" SeaSwirls for a 180. These will not be run from a sump but just looped for the circulation. I was thinking maybe a Mag 1200. Will this pump be too big? Is there a better choice? Thanks, Bill |

It may be barely adequate, but it certainly won't be too big since the two 3/4" SeaSwirls can handle a combined 1700gph.

Iron Crab,
It will not be enough for adequate circulation. Take my word for it. I have 4 SS's, both the 1/2" models and 3/4". I first hooked up my 3/4" SS's to a Mag1200 and the flow barely trickled out of them. I upgraded to a Mag1800 and I am very happy w/ the results. Therefore, if you've decided upon the 3/4" models, get the Mag1800 or Mag2400(or comparable pump). My 3/4"'s are in my 135g. FWIW, I hard plumbed the SS inlets w/ 1" PVC and I get enough flow that I don't need PH's in the tank. FWIW, here's a couple of pic's: HTH ------------------ "Remember...Wherever you go...There you are." Buckaroo Banzai, circa 1978 |

Thanks guys,
I'll start by giving the Mag 1800 a try. Like the idea of the hard plumping. thanks for the pics. I'm hoping that I won't be using any powerheads. Bill |

Well the problem is I don't know what to expect from any of this. All new to me. The pump returning water from the sump is a Little Giant 4MDQX-SC which is suppose to pump out 1225 gph at 3 feet. I'm going to have a return line in the two back corners from the sump and the SeaSwirls will be on their own pump space out on the back. I'm worried if I go too big I might be pushing too much water around if that's possible. What do ya think? Bill
