I've ordered a few electronic float switches along with my sump that will sense when water is needed that will draw it from a RO holding tank. Since the holding tank will be in a closet behind the tank with the piping coming through a hole where an outlet use to be- all I have to do is figure out how to get the RO water from the holding tank in the basement to the one in the closet. There's always something. Bill

I put a Kent float valve in my sump hooked to a Rubbermaid container filled with make-up water. This system has never given me any trouble and it maintains my water level in the sump at the same height. Skip

I am doing exactly what skip is doing. Kent float valve in my sump to a 20 gallon rubbermaid container. The container is higher than the sump so I let gravity do the work for me. I can go out of town for about 10 days, if I have to and not worry about it! HTH

zAll i did for my 20l is use a 2 litre plastic bottle, ran an airline down into my canopy and sump, attached a simple aquarium gang vavle, (the type used for air-pumps), see website for a pic. with this I can easily adjust flow. This seems to work out for my small set-up.

You can buy this float switch for about $15 at Graingers Supply Co. if you have one in your area.

Leafy,
I think the nurse that Tane recommends is the best solution. Float switches can stick… I plan on getting one of these after my upcoming move. Dan, how about using a 5 gallon water container and IV drip set? The water container has airtight lid and the container itself is transparent. |
