Hey Schrocat,

Where would you like me to start.... I have never been able to leave the Korallin alone for more that a day. I get excessive Co2 build-up even when I adjust the effluent drip high. I changed the Eheim pump the the more powerful one they are offering on their 2001 models. It just has to be constantly monitored and tweeked.

Hope you are not in a hurry. I ordered one from Lifereef back in the first week of January and I'm still waiting. Got my sump and skimmer a few weeks ago. I will point out that when you order they will give you an idea when you will receive it. They have about a three month lead time but at the moment my CR and a few other things are on back order. Bill

Question Lifereef Calcium Reactor question

I'm thinking of changing calcium reactors. I have a Korallin right now and am not happy with it. Has anyone had experience with the Lifereef model?

I have a Lifereef LCR-1 calcium reactor. A very good unit. At the time that I ordered mine, I only had to wait a couple of weeks. Here are my thoughts on this unit:
1.) The supplied media at the time was Korallith. IMO, Korallith s*cks! After changing to CaribSea ARM media, more desirable CA and Alk levels were achieved.
2.) The supplied feeder pump is a Rio. After all the negative posts about Rio pumps....forget it. I created a tee line off of my circulation pump to supply the unit.

have you looked into a geo or any other diy? these are cheaper and work good. calcium reactors are a simple tool a place to hold media hope for no leaks. the one you have has a pump on top? PPL have complained about co2 blocks often eith this type of setup diy ect.. Not all ppl but enough.

naser,

I've decided to sell my Korallith calcium reactor. If you are interested I will sell it for $150. That price is for the reactor alone. Let me know.

Thanks, Pat(medman)

You could go with a GEO reactor. Guy named George webber makes them. Very nice, well built, good looking, cheap price, and he has fantastic customer service. His dual chamber reactors go for like $100-120, single chambers are less. You still need the CO2 equipement but you need that for almost any commercially produced reactor. Premium aquatics has a deal, regulator, selnoid, needle valve, and a Mag 2 recirculating pump for $150.

George's email is geomweb@aol.com

Nice guy, I highly recommend him.
