Congrats, Chuck!
Well deserved and I find myself hard pressed to find a more dedicated and a faster learner than you. I still remember when you first joined this forum and asked all sorts of questions and now you are helping others with their questions and problems... that is really awesome to see. Keep up the good work! ![]()

Oh I also wanted to note that if you keep mangroves and don't want the leaves to look like mine in the pic that I've read they will benefit from 1-2 freshwater mistings daily. I had been misting maybe twice weekly but they are now looking slightly better after only a few days so hope that helps.

Once again I appreciate everything guys. Since I got my larger system I've moved quite a few things around. First I changed my aquascape to give the sps more room/better flow. As I'm sure some of you noticed a few of the corals I had weren't really appropriate for an sps tank. I bought that 75g softie/lps system and moved a ton of stuff over to it. Everything I had was doing fine but since I moved them I've definately noticed a positive change in things such as my zoanthids, Xenia, Fungias, etc. My fungias/herpolitha seem extra happy being on a sandbed and not on that plastic lid anymore. The tentacles are always extended a little further and I've actually witnessed two of them move right in front of my eyes. Now my bioload isn't so great on the nano and I feel that this will only improve the way it functions. I've also rigged up that micro bubbler to run for ten minutes a day after reading lrdhawkes thread. Polyp extension is double what it used to be at night after doing so.
Rocky you need to make an excuse to come up here sometime and visit all the shops in the AR/TN area.

Wow, looks awesome.
Are there any benefits to a bare bottom tank?

Thanks again guys.
Brooke, Thanks to Ninong and some other research I've done I don't believe that a sandbed is functional in a small system such as mine other than some buffering. The benefit that many find in keeping sps in a bare bottom tank is that we can really crank up the flow...even aim powerheads at the bottom keeping deitritus in suspension so that the skimmer can pull it out. Some always settles though but the bare bottom makes it easy to vacuum it off. There is a danger of your LR falling and breaking the bottom glass which is why you see the pvc structure under my LR. This also allows me to get more flow around and under it.
