There are several types of Puffers, Salt critters, brackish criters, and fresh critters. Just make sure that whichever one you get is a fresh critter, the brackish and salt would live, but wouldn't be happy about it in a fresh tank.
Can anyone tell me more about the fresh (brackish) water spotted puffers? I have seen them in several pet shops and know of one person who kept one successfully. From what I have been told, they are moderately aggressive but could be kept with quick fish such as barbs. Any info would be helpful- I would love to keep these fish in my 20 gallon fresh tank (I'll add some salt) but I don't know enough about them yet!
Thanks,
Marsey

Okay, well, I guess I'll have to just try it out. I'll keep you all posted...
I think they are hard to keep alive..
