Exclamation What the heck is this stuff!?!?!?!?!

OK I have this 55 gal. Long Piranha tank and I added this log thing in a couple of months ago. I got this thing from the petshop. So anyways I washed the log a couple of times and I put it in. Now my water has a like a pee color and It won't leave. I don't want to add anything in until I now what the heck is wrong with it. My fish are fine though. Any suggestions??

What you bought was probably uncured bog wood. What you now have in the water is the natural color of the wood leeched out into your water.

It shouldn't hurt your fish, but it doesn't look good unless your going for the bog-look. You can do two things, one, change your water and in a few months it will go away, or remove the wood and soak it in a container of water until it stops coloring the water. I've had success boiling the wood for an hour to get the initial coloration out.

It is a very common problem with bog wood, sometimes it will also acidify your water so you will want to keep a weekly eye on your Ph and make sure it isn't effecting your water.
