Question Pleco breeding

Have two plecostamus(i) that have been with me for about 8 months. ONe is half again as big as the other, both have trippled in size in the last 8 months. The larger one has been seen chasing the smaller one...not aggressively, rather languidly in fact. Could this be mating behavior? I know the experts say that mating rarely occurs in captivity or is difficult at best. Thanks in advance. David

Pleco's are known agressors, chances are, your larger one is beating up the smaller one when the lights are off and they are most active. I have one in a system here, and it is one mean little beast once the lights go off. I can't imagine what it would do to another one of the same species.

I would remove the smaller one, you should really only keep one at a time.

Yeah, depending on what kind of plecos you have it might just be agression.

Some plecos can be bred in captivity though and some quite easily. My buddy is trying his hand at zebras.

have not seen any aggressive behavior from the larger one....like i said the chasing has always been languid and there has never been any contact that i am aware of....fins are in perfect condition on both of them, (had no idea such an ugly fish could be so pretty), both are out and about at all hours of the day

i have zebra danios that chase each other more than these two. I've kept fish since i was a kid and know aggressive behavior, no offense, and this is not aggressive behavior in that sense. Believe me that is the first thing i thought of.

Just have to sit back and watch what unfolds, and keep them safe of course.

anyone got a guarenteed MALE marble Angelfish they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks guys
