Could be that your tiger barb is full of eggs, however I Realy have no clue. I am just taking a shot in the dark What tank mates do you have with your barbs ? They are neat looking fish but can be agressive as hell.

YOU HAVE CONVICTS CICHLIDS????????? in that tank? Do they breed? I'm amazed that they haven't ripped you other fish to death???? anyways how do you like this for a fish list

4 angels
3 neon tatra
7 guppies
7 swortails
2 zebra danios
1 betta
2 coreys
1 pleco
???

I don't know if I'm going to add anything or not. If I do maybe get rid of the betta, and add some dwarf gouramis or maybe a pair of dwarf cichlids

1. angels eat neon tetra
2. i day you can have a $hit load of small fish in a high tank..
3. angels get very large, i have one beauty 6-7" head to tail!
4. take a look at my list, i have more than that, thats about half!!

the convicts are offspring of a pair of convicts i once had.. i gave those 2 to my friend, because i had too many tanks. one of the onvicts is 2-3" the other >1"!!! they are the same age, but one is very small, i think it is male! and i caught the female digging a nest!

i think fresh water is more relaxing than salt water!

I've learned that if you get small angels that they will not eat the neon tetra and when they get big they will not try. My biggest angel is 5" high its a beaut,

think I could try a convict pair? The only problem is that the convicts I've had before were meaner than heck, but maybe I could try, hey who knows.

I'd like to add about 4 more neons, hmm maybe I could give it a shot

if you are to put convicts in, buy a male and a female adult, and breed them, once the fry reach 1/8 an inch they can go in, since you would only want 2 or 3 to survive. also i found pink convicts to be nicer than banded convicts

Mikeman,

In response to your fish list, how large of a tank is it?
Bettas tend to fight with swordtails and if the tank is too large the bettas fins will streamline and he won't be as pretty. Just some advice from my years with freshwater.

his profile says 35 gal. i think bettas would do good in big tanks, you just have to have loads of obstacles, and driftwood, to make the betta more comfortable.

My betta is wonderful, maybe because it killed my male swordtail. Then the female gave birth so that is why I have 7 swords

I've seen pics of hybrid fiemouth ad convict cichlids, so it could happen, convicts do sometimes just make nests anyway, kinda like bettas do

Cool

You know, this may be out of the conversation, but I have a convict in with m Piranha. I'm not sure what kind but Its not PINK. It is gray with black stripes. The have never attacked eachother but they get along pretty good. It may sound strange but I think the convict may be making a nest. I might be wrong but in the corner of my 50gal. It has moved all the rocks and spends most of its time there. The convict is the same size as my Piranha(about 5 inches). The convict was big but then went back to normal. It took about 3 months for it too "lose" all that FAT.The PetShops think I'm crazy but you tell me.
