What other fish (if any) Will my mother be able to keep with her Betta? I set her up with a 10 gallon tank...Thanks

Pretty much any community fish out there, Betta's are very docile except with their own species. The only problem is this, in a tank setting, the betta finds a corner/hiding place and rarely moves, so you don't get to see their pretty colors in a tank. (that's also why most folks keep them in a bowl on the counter) But any community fish you care to place in there will do fine. (I've heard of angels nipping fins, but otherwise, any fish)

Thats right- just about any community fish will do. Howver like said above bettas wont move much in an aquarium with other fish, not the males at least. I have a female in my 40 gallon planted aquarium with other fish and shes always on the move. Females dont have the long pretty fins like the males, but you can find some nice colors out there...May I suggest a small school on neon tetras and a couple of mollies for your 10 gallon ? HTH

Well, most dont use any filter at all on a fish bowl but you can get them with built in UGF's now. There is a beautiful male betta at my lfs swimming around with some tetras.
