Lights Of America(?)

If anyone is familar with that light that a lot of people are using over their refugium(from Lowes,I think) called something like 'Lights Of America"(?), I have a question;
Can it be operated with a timer? Or is it one of those lights you have to hold for a sec to turn on?
I want to get this light if a timer can start it. Thanks!

Yes u can operate it with a Timer... But you may also want to make sure the light get plenty of cool air, maybe add a few holes in the plastic case and have a fan blowing towards the light, I've heard of a few of the overheating.

Another option is to use a regular "shop light" with plant grow bulbs thats what I use and my calurpa really took off...

MB,

I've had mine for over a year. No problems with overheating. You can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot, whichever. They are cheap and come in various lengths. I have mine on a standard light timer. No problems, no worries.

The model I'm using is the LOA 9266.

I currently have 5 going -- 4 are over 1 1/2 years old. however it took 4 returns to get a 5 that worked. My original 5th lamp started to flash, so I figured replace it -- wrong -- 4 replacements. 1 failed immediately, 2 failed within 12 hours and the 4th went 2 days. the 5th replacement has been going for over a month -- I just checked it to be sure. I think LOA lights are great -- but they nee to clean up their QC on balast components.

There is anothe Manufacturer that uses the same 65w bulb but can't remember the name -- will search and ger back if I find it. I could not find the product anywhere (lowes,HD,Walmart etc.)

Just my 2 Cents.

Regards,
Don
