Guess it depends on the lights and livestock. Most do use a timer. The two cycle your using, as long as the room is light during the off period. I would think its would be harder on the inhabitants, if the tank was light, then dark, then light again and so on.Originally Posted by Force spike
I would use a timer and have them come on later in the day, so they are on in the evening for viewing.
Most run about 12 or 13hrs. for actinics, with the main lighting being on from 8 to 12hrs. depending on the corals and kighting intensity on them.
