Best VHO deal
I am building my own hood and am planning on using the Hellolights VHO retrofit VHO kit 48" 4x110,(yes it's being designed with Metal Halide as a future addition) As I have not ordered from them I was looking for some feedback about them. also does anyone know of a better deal? I plan on ordering the kit soon. Oh yes, it will be lighting a 75g FOWLR&DSB to start, will include a fan and a vent and will have room for additional fans when and if the MH's happen. Would like some corals eventually. Also would like some advice on which bulbs to run, Planning on URI's but which One's ?? Aquasun 10,000k ? Super Actinic 03 ? or Actinic white 50/50's ?
Thanks for the advice, Hope I don't start the age old lighting debate. |

I need to add a couple things. First, they run in series, which means, once you flip the switch, all 4 bulbs will go on. YOu cannot turn on say, 2 of them, then turn the next 2 off later.
That's the only downside to it. Maybe get a smaller pc or vho for your actinics? Might spook the fish, etc. I use a combination of 2 Actinic whites and 2 Actinic blues. Awesome color. The URI Aquasuns are a bit pinkish, and get more pink as they age. I use all URI bulbs. - Elmo ![]() |

Check out www.oceanencounter.com
Vince hooked me up on a sweet deal for some MH bulbs and ballasts. Plus they are a sight sponsor, so make sure you mention Reefland to them. They do have the best price I've seen on the Icecap 660 which can run 4 ftrs I'm pretty sure anyway... I know it can run 2 6ftrs anyway. you may even want to consider getting 2 Icecap 430's that way you can simulate dusk to dawn, 2 blues on one ballast 2 whites on the other.... Good Luck!! Mike |
