which bulb do u guys recommend or use for a 150W DE?

how bout SE?


do any of u guys run w/o actinic?? and just full MH??

I run with only 2 - 250w Double Ended halides over our 75gal. We use both AB and Ushio bulbs and there is a bit of difference but nothing really noticable unless you are really looking for it. One is powered by an Icecap ballast, the other Sun Light Supply. I have opted for no actinics because I like the tank coloration with just the halides however have considered an actinic just to see what difference it makes in teh apperance of the corals.

As for SE or DE? Check out some of the various lighting analysis that have been performed and make your decision from there.

I use only metal halides. I use iwasaki 6500K on my 220. And I use XM 20,000K on my 125. When I started 16 months ago I was told to start using the 6500K for growth and then in a year to find a more pleasing lamp. I changed to the XMs two months ago. Time will tell though, the 20K lamps I hear only last about 6 months compared to the 12 months I get out of the 65K.

I used to run ONLY MH, but the color to my eye was not what I wanted. So I added a Single 6Ft VHO Actinic and PRESTO!!! Exactly what I want. (Really close anyway) My bulbs are 10K AB bulbs. I've had them for almost a year, and now I'm considering the Coral Vue 15K Bulbs, maybe it will be just a more blue. Or Maybe I'll add a second VHO Actinic and stick with the AB. It always comes down to personal preference and CASH!!!

i was going to go with just a single AB 10k (they're actually 13k) on a 15 gallon cube. decided not to do the tank, but i'd still recommend the AB's.
