really stupid question

Hey all-

I know this is really a dumb question but I just want to make sure. It's time to change my bulbs on my pc fixture (coralife) can I use any brand of pc bulbs as long as they have the same number of pins. If I can what bulbs does everyone recommend for color and performance.

TIA- Dee

Same amount of pins ..... and same configuration. Some bases are square and some are rectangular. What kind of lights ( kelvin ) depends on what you are trying to raise and what looks best to YOUR eye.

Thanks Blue-

Thats what I thought I have mostly zoo's and ricordia's so I want to bring out the best coloring. Just not sure what the difference is color wise between bulbs as I have nothing to compare it to. I was hoping to get some opinions as far as everyone's peferences.

Once again TIA- Dee

for color i would use one 10000k and 1 actinic that gives you a kinda blue tint i use 4 10000k bulbs and one normal output actinic alot brighter and that seems to help with growth its really a personal preference .im pretty sure all pc bulbs will work as long as the pins match right now i have coralife bulbs . i had a credit with dr foster and smith and that is what was in stock

Dee,
PC's dont offer an actinic that equals the flourescing of a VHO bulb. You can get actinic PC bulbs now that are better , but still not equal . Just make sure the actinics are what they call true actinics. The others are just kind of a blue light bulb. The actinics are what brings out the glowing colors . The 10K bulbs with a good actinic supplement are what looks best to me , but then I need glasses too!!

Hey Guy's-

Thanks for the replies sorry I didn't respond sooner but I was away for the weekend just got back. I was kind of thinking about adding a vho strip just for actinics. What do you think?
