Question Power Compact Light Question...

I have a 125G Tank I am setting up for Saltwater. I have decided that I mainly want fish and inverts with live rock, however I was thinking of adding some low to medium light Soft corals or polyps.

I am currently building a custom hood for my tank, which will contain (6) 96W PC lights, with room to add (2) more if needed, plus (6) 470nm custom made Moonlights (Blue LEDs).

The tank is 72X18X22.

The question is what K and type of PC's should I use and how many of each? I was think (4) 03/10K (50/50) and (2) 6700K?

And will (6) 96W PC lights have enough intensity for Soft Corals? (3) lights on each half of the tank.

It's too late to change to MH as I have already pruchased all the ballasts. I was able to get all the ballasts for under $120.00. Also the canopy is only 6.5" high, so I cannot switch to MH without scraping what I have done and starting over.

Thanks is advance for any advice.

This is a matter of personal preference, but I would choose four 10,000K and two 03 actinic. Put the actinics in the middle, between the 10,000K's. Or, if you prefer, go with two 6700K, two 10,000K and two 03 actinics. No need to pay more for 50/50 PC's when you can simply buy one of each instead. Be sure to set things up so that you have at least two switches. That way you can bring the actinics on an hour before the other lamps and leave them on an hour after the other lamps go off. That will give you a dawn/dusk effect.

Yes.
