I think with the lights you have it is fine... If you had some intense lighting, it would be on the long side. A real easy thing to do is buy a timer from Walmart or other department store for like $5.00...

alright thanks, i was just worried about that, i probably will go out and pick up a timer, when i go pick up all the things i need for the sump im starting this weekend, also i will get started on building my new stand, becuase the one i have now i put together in like an hour, so its not the greatest stand, any suggestions on how i would go about moving my tank? i thought i could put the new stand next to the old one, slide the tank over(with help), take the old one out and set up the sump/overflow and everything, and then just slide the stand right back. what do you think?

As far as moving the tank I would drain most of the water into a CLEAN trash can, move the tank, take out the old stand, put in the new stand LEVEL it, then place the tank on the new stand and replace the water....

It is important that the stand is level and also FLAT where the tank will sit, if it is even slightly off square, it can cause your tank to twist and then crack.

wow really?

the stand it is on now is slightly off scale... should i worry about his!? do i need to build this new stand RIGHT AWAY? and what do you mean by twist? will it just fall over? even if it is the slightest bit slanted?

and by replacing the water you mean just putting back the water thats in the tub right? and what should i do with my fish while im doing this?
